The deadline for nominations is March 12, 2004. The LAA winner will receive the award on the evening of June 24 at the Society’s Awards of Excellence banquet at the Pyramid Club in Philadelphia. The winner will be announced to the public prior to the banquet.
A candidate must be nominated by an ASBPE member and should meet four requirements:
1. Significant tenure (20 years or more) on business publications. Nominees need not currently hold editorial positions, and may be retired, but they must have spent the bulk of their careers in senior editorial positions. Nominees need not be members of ASBPE.
2. Commitment to editorial excellence. This can be demonstrated by the reputation of the nominee’s publications; industry-related awards (e.g., ASBPE, Neal Awards, Folio:); internal company awards; or other forms of professional recognition or other valid measures of editorial success.
3. Commitment to the business and professional press. Nominees should be or should have been involved in lending their experience and time to benefit others in the business press. For example, this may be participation in local or national business publications or related organizations; corporate or university teaching; mentoring programs; or significant research or publication of articles on business press issues.
4. Commitment to the industry their publication serves. Examples might include committee work with trade or professional associations or standards groups; frequent speaking engagements at industry events; significant research or publication of articles on industry issues; or significant advocacy work with government agencies.
At the awards banquet the honoree will receive a special tribute and trophy and will deliver the keynote lecture.
