Stanford Offers ASBPE Discount
on Midcareer Publishing Course
Feb. 25, 2004 —ASBPE members: Your association
has negotiated a 10-percent discount for you to attend the Stanford Professional
Publishing Course, a nine-day workshop for midcareer journalists held
annually on the Stanford University campus in northern California.
The 2004 workshop, to be held July 16–24, 2004,
attracts a faculty of top professionals working in publishing today, including:

George Green, president of Hearst
Magazines;
-
John Griffin, president of the
magazine group at the National Geographic Society; and
-
Ina Saltz,
principal of Saltz Design. who was one of the presenters at ASBPE’s
2003 national conference.
In the workshop, you will learn best practices in an
intensive, highly concentrated, and interactive environment. Attendees
can focus on different publishing tracks, including magazine publishing
and editing, and they get informal networking opportunities over the course
of the workshop.
Applicants must have at least three years’ journalism
experience.
Tuition for the course is $3,850. ASBPE members get
a 10-percent reduction off this tuition price. Tuition includes breakfast
and lunch daily, and two networking dinners.
Housing costs (nine nights) are an additional $531 or
$711 (depending on whether you are sharing a suite with two bedrooms or
occupying the entire suite yourself).
Early bird registrants receive an additional 10-percent
discount, which can be combined with the ASBPE member discount. Early
bird deadline is April 1.
