Redesigned Web site focuses on community and member resources
The new asbpe.org will help users find information faster and take better advantage of association resources.
New site planned for launch in late June
ASBPE will debut a completely overhauled web site in June 2009.
Some of the more notable changes include top-bar navigation, a dedicated “community” area to access ASBPE’s blog, discussion group, and other social-media links, and a more prominent members-only section.
The top navigation bar includes the following:
- About ASBPE. Will have FAQs and information about the national officers and staff, chapters, the ASBPE Foundation and the Azbee Awards.
- Membership. Join ASBPE or renew your membership here.
- Ethics. Will have links to the ASBPE Guide to Preferred Editorial Practices, the ethics committee, and Ethics Advisories.
- Events. Will showcase upcoming conferences, awards banquets, webinars, and chapter meetings. A new feature on the site will allow members and event attendees to download handouts or presentations from previous events.
- Awards. Get all the information relating to the Azbee Print and Digital Awards, including entry forms and category descriptions. The winner galleries will be here as well. Plus information about the Journalism That Matters, Lifetime Achievement, and Stephen Barr awards.
- Chapters. Will provide access to all our local chapters. Chapter members will update their page for meetings or workshops, links, other chapter news, and contact information.
- Community. Click directly to our Twitter stream and Facebook and LinkedIn groups.
- Resources. Access ASBPE newsletters, press releases, tip sheets, news, bookstore, and industry links.
The following topics will have special areas on the home page:
- News. Under the top navigation bar on the right, you’ll find continually updated news, at a glance.
- Members Only. This valuable section will remain on the home page and be more prominently displayed so that members can more easily find our exclusive resources for them.
- Job Board. Find and submit jobs here.
- Quick Links. At the bottom of the home page, you’ll find links to numerous journalism and publishing-related Web sites and our local chapters.
ASBPE paid special attention to its social media community. On the home page, you will see all recent ASBPE National Blog posts and links to the ASBPE Twitter profile, Facebook page and LinkedIn group.
A notable change involving social media is the moving of the ASBPE forum to the ASBPE LinkedIn group. Members and nonmembers will be able to post and answer questions. On the current forum, only members are allowed to post. Back to ASBPE News page |
