ASBPE announces new national officers for 2017-19 term

(ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.) — The American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) is pleased to announce its new team of national executive officers.

dom-mug150Dom Yanchunas has been elected president for the 2017-19 term. Yanchunas is a New York-based business journalist who is currently a reporter with American Metal Market, part of Metal Bulletin Group and Euromoney Institutional Investor Plc.

Yanchunas earlier spent a decade with Professional Mariner magazine and was the publication’s chief editor from 2013 to 2016. He also was contributing editor at COINage magazine and previously worked at the Associated Press, Bloomberg News and at daily newspapers including the Press & Sun-Bulletin in Binghamton, N.Y., and the Scranton (Pa.) Times-Tribune, where he was founding editor of the regional BusinessWeekly.

Yanchunas was ASBPE’s vice president from 2015 to 2017 and previously served as national treasurer and as member of the national and New York regional boards of directors.

“ASBPE has exhibited a lot of positive momentum recently, and we are inspired by the 2017 Azbee award winners and our recent national conference,” Yanchunas said. “Watch for new membership and training initiatives coming soon. In particular, let’s all work together to keep the fake-news scourge out of B2B journalism.”

She is vice president of editorial services at ASIS International and editor-in-chief of ASIS’s flagship publication, Security Management magazine. Anderson started as an editorial assistant with Security Management in 1993. She is president of ASBPE’s Washington, D.C., chapter.

 

Steve-ross-mug150Remaining for a second term as national treasurer is Steve Ross, editor-at-large with Broadband Communities Magazine and a longtime writing and editing instructor and consultant. Ross represents ASBPE’s Boston chapter.

 

 

stephanie-ricca-mug150Stephanie Ricca is ASBPE’s new chapter liaison. Ricca is editor-in-chief of Hotel News Now in Lakewood, Ohio. She is active in ASBPE’s Cleveland chapter.

The national elections were held May 17 during the week of ASBPE’s 2017 B2B Media Success Conference at the Poynter Institute for Media Studies in St. Petersburg, Fla.

“We thank Jessica for elevating ASBPE to new heights, with a growing membership that now exceeds 1,700 B2B journalism professionals,” Yanchunas said. “Jessica modernized our digital systems, expanded our popular webinar program and shepherded ASBPE through its exciting transition with a new management contractor and education partner, the Poynter Institute.”
